Message from Mrs. Bowhay
I would like to give you a heads-up about a valuable survey that will be emailed to all LPS families in April. This survey will ask about how you feel concerning a variety of aspects related to your child’s educational experiences and our school.
Please be aware that the address line in the email will look like this: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We use the results of these questions to improve our teaching and learning – to improve the education we provide to all students. We are grateful to everyone who will take the time – about 10 minutes – to complete the survey.
Watch for the email containing the survey: It will be available from April 16-May 18. Thanks so much.
Art Show – Volunteers Needed
Mr. Fischer would love to have your help hanging art for the Kloefkorn Art Show. If you can volunteer about an hour of your time come to the art room on Tuesday, April 10th. We will be starting right after school and will need help taping and hanging art. We appreciate the help!
One Day Without Shoes
Help us raise donations and awareness for People’s City Mission. Boxes have been set up in the front lobby for anyone that would like to drop off new or used shoes between now and April 13th. On April 10th we are allowing the students to wear fun socks and no shoes for the day if they donate $1. Note: Students still need to bring shoes for recess, gym, lunch, etc. They will be allowed to go shoeless within the classroom only. (Read More)
Backpack Walk/Fundraiser – We need your help!
Fundraising envelopes are coming home Monday, April 9th for The Backpack Program of Lincoln and will be due back by April 23rd. The annual Backpack Extra Mile Walk will be held on April 28, 2018 at 10:00am at East High. In partnership with The Food Bank of Lincoln, currently 2,303 LPS students at 32 LPS schools receive weekly food-filled backpacks. Over the past few years Kloefkorn has done an incredible job of fundraising for this amazing and important program. Our goal this year is $6,000. On April 20th we will have Hats on for Hunger Day. Any student that brings $1 can wear a hat for the day! This is a great opportunity to help spread kindness around our community! (Read More)
This year marks the 31st Annual KFRX Mayor’s Run sponsored by Sandhill’s Publishing. Known as midwest America’s largest children’s run, the Mayor’s Run will be giving away 30 bikes and $1 from every entry will be donated to BikeSafeIM.
Any 6th grade or younger child is eligible to run in the Mayor’s Run. Parents, grandparents, older siblings or an adult sponsor are welcome to enter on the family plan and accompany younger runners in heats 3, 4, 5 and 6 and receive a t-shirt. It is NOT necessary for adults to register to accompany a young runner.

If your child turns 5 between August 1st and October 15th they are eligible to participate in an assessment conducted by LPS to determine possible early entrance to kindergarten.
If this is something that you are interested in you may stop in the front office to pick up an application starting April 3rd. To register, bring your completed application and original birth certificate to the front office and Christy will get you scheduled for an assessment. All assessments must be scheduled one week prior to the beginning of each round of testing and are completed at Eastridge Elementary. Click here to view available testing dates and learn more.
Inspire Award Winners!
Every year the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools is privileged to honor one student and one educator from each school who are an inspiration to their school and their community. These remarkable leaders gathered for an evening of celebration and recognition for their accomplishment. The Inspire Awards are the only district-wide celebration of excellence and hope that touches each of our 61 school communities.
Congratulations to our Kloefkorn representatives, Kennedy Johnson (5th Grade) Kristen Riley (5th Grade Teacher)!
