A Message from Mrs. Bowhay
Kloefkorn students and families,
Every year when May rolls around we wonder where the school year has gone! I want you to know how much I have appreciated your support as I finish my first year as the principal of this outstanding school.  There are typically a few growing pains when a new principal arrives on the scene. Everyone has been kind, understanding and patient as I’ve learned about the wonderful culture of our Kloefkorn Community. I’m truly looking forward to next year so I can continue to get to know more of you.
Have a safe summer and remember, August 13 will be here before we know it!
Our heartfelt THANKS and BEST WISHES to the following teaches who will not be returning to Kloefkorn next school year.

  • Allison Mattern-Mrs. Mattern has accepted a district pre-school coaching position.
  • Megan Fleischman-Mrs Fleischman has accepted a district math coaching position.
  • Christel Burgason-Mrs. Burgason is leaving the district to pursue other interests.
  • Joanna Fineran- Mrs. Fineran’s husband has a one-year military assignment in Alabama.  Mrs. Fineran will take a one year leave of absence, she will return for the 2019 school year.
  • Jennifer Nelsen-Ms. Nelsen will be moving to Valentine, NE to be closer to her family and teach in a country school.
  • Juli Steen-Mrs. Steen will be transferring to Schoo Middle School to teach computer science/business.

Will you be changing schools next year?
If you have a change of address and/or plan to move to another school for the 2018/19 school year,  please let the office know as soon as possible. We will send student records to the appropriate school and plan accordingly for classroom assignments.

Kloefkornucopia Day
Tuesday, May 22nd
Grand Parade- 2:00 pm (weather permitting)

Join us in celebrating our namesake Bill Kloefkorn, and the close of another successful school year!  Students in grades K-5 will walk in a special parade along with our honorary guest, Mrs. Eloise Kloefkorn, as Grand Marshal.

Please cheer  us on as we walk along the parade route, which includes Glass Ridge, Meursault and Oakville.  Bring a lawn chair, invite your friends, grandparents, siblings, neighbors, and warm up your cheering voice as we celebrate the life  and honor the memory of Bill Kloefkorn.
Streets around our school will be barricaded beginning at 1:30 (neighbors may notice a police presence), and the parade will begin shortly thereafter.
We encourage students to wear plaid shirts on our parade day.  As this was Bill Kloefkorn’s favorite kind of shirt.

Lost and Found
We have quite a collection of jackets and miscellaneous items  in our Lost and Found. Feel free to stop in and take a look if anything belongs to your family. All items left behind at the end of the school year will be donated to charity.

Negative Meal Balances
Negative meal balances need to be paid in full before June 1, 2018. The parent/guardian is responsible to pay for all school meal purchases made by their student(s). Negative balances can be paid in the school office or sent to Accounting, LPSDO Box 2, 5905 O Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.
Also, online payments can be made through May 28th at https://wapp.lps.org/scarlet/parentaccount/login.cfm?idx=y . Student Meal Account Refund or Balance Transfer
Balances for underclassmen will be automatically carried over to the next school year. Refunds from
student meal accounts are granted when a student graduates, leaves the District, or a special
circumstance necessitates the refund.
Upon request, money remaining in the student’s meal account may be transferred to another account or a refund may be requested. After three years, any remaining balances for students who have withdrawn from the District will be donated to the Lincoln Public Schools Nutrition Services Department.

Parents/guardians may request a refund or a transfer by completing the Meal Account Refund/Transfer request and email to accounts receivable@lps.org or mail to:
